XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW Z4 4 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2009-2016

For competitive drifting, the Z4’s front-engine, rear-drive layout is only half the story – the E89’s electronic damping control needs to be cancelled out before a fixed-rate, driver-adjustable coilover can do its job. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec kit replaces that factory EDC logic entirely, giving you a suspension that responds only to your inputs, not a control module guessing at ride comfort.

Drift Spec is built around one job: keeping the body settled while the rear end is deliberately unsettled. On the Z4’s four-cylinder chassis, that means a setup tuned to hold camber and geometry through sustained yaw angles rather than the brief slip windows a road-biased coilover is tuned for.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2016 Bmw Z4

Lowering the ride height on this kit isn’t just a stance change – it drops the centre of gravity and shortens the bump stroke, which is exactly what you want when the rear is loaded up mid-transition and needs to stay planted rather than pogo. Because the cancellation kit removes the EDC’s electronic interference, damping response is consistent and predictable run after run, rather than the car second-guessing your inputs through a corner. The Z4’s relatively short wheelbase rewards this kind of body control: less roll and pitch means the car reacts the instant you countersteer, instead of a beat later. Drivers running the Z4 competitively will feel the difference most in transition – the point where a soft factory setup lets the nose or tail wander, and where this kit’s specific tuning keeps the geometry where you put it.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing designed this suspension specifically around competition drifting rather than adapting a road or track kit to the discipline. The core aim is body stabilisation through high-speed direction changes, so the car holds a clean, controllable angle instead of fighting the driver for it. Reducing ride height with a properly matched bump stroke is central to that: too little stroke and the car bottoms out under load transfer, too much and body control suffers, so the kit is built to find that balance for sustained slide angles rather than a single corner. The result is a suspension purpose-matched to drift’s specific demands – repeated weight transfer, sustained yaw, and the need for the driver to feel exactly what the rear is doing at all times. For a Z4 built for competition rather than road use, that’s a materially different brief to a fast-road or circuit coilover.

Fitment for the Bmw Z4 (2009-2016)

This kit is specified for the Z4 4-cylinder chassis (BM73-1) across the 2009-2016 range, and includes the cancellation kit needed to disable the factory electronic damping control before the coilovers are fitted. Confirm your Z4 is the 4-cylinder variant and carries the EDC-equipped suspension before ordering, since the cancellation hardware is specific to that setup.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
