XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW Z4 4 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2009-2016

Sealed-stage tarmac rally throws a car at bumps, crests and camber changes that a track day surface never will, and the BM73-1-C generation Z4’s short wheelbase makes it quick to react to all of them. This Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that reality, with settings drawn from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme and tuned to keep the chassis composed once the road stops being smooth.

This fitment covers the four-cylinder Z4 built with factory electronic damping control, so the kit ships with a cancellation kit that removes the stock EDC system and lets XYZ Racing’s own mechanical damping take over. That is a full damping-system swap, not an add-on – everything the factory electronics used to manage is now yours to set.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2016 Bmw Z4 4 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping)

On a stage or a fast B-road, big hits used to be the factory dampers’ job to smooth over. Here, the coilover’s own valving absorbs the impact of rough pavement directly, taking the shock out of the body before it unsettles the rear end mid-corner. That matters on a rear-wheel-drive roadster with a relatively light nose, since traction off a bumpy apex depends on the tyre staying loaded rather than skipping across the surface, and that is exactly the jolt suppression this damper is set up to deliver. The result on your 2009-2016 Z4 is a car that holds its stance through a rutted braking zone and puts power down cleanly on corner exit instead of hopping through it. Ride height and corner balance are yours to set too, so the car can be levelled for a rally-spec ride or trimmed for kerb weight changes from a stripped-out interior.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line around surfaces that change grip and texture corner to corner rather than staying consistent like a circuit. The damper is designed to absorb the impact of uneven pavement without kicking that shock back into the chassis, and to keep working through repeated big hits across a stage rather than fading after the first one. That focus on absorbing bump energy instead of transmitting it is what keeps tyre contact, and with it traction, consistent even when the surface underneath is not. Every valving setting on this Tarmac Rally kit comes directly from XYZ Racing’s own rally experience rather than a generic road-and-track compromise, which is the difference between a coilover that copes with a stage and one developed on one. For the Z4’s four-cylinder, EDC-equipped chassis, that means a damper calibrated to do the job the factory’s electronic system can no longer do once the cancellation kit is fitted.

Fitment for the Bmw Z4 4 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2009-2016)

This kit is built for the Bmw Z4 4 CYL (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping), chassis code BM73-1-C, across the 2009-2016 production run. It is specific to cars that left the factory with electronic damping control – the included cancellation kit is what lets the mechanical Tarmac Rally dampers take over from the stock EDC hardware, so confirm your Z4 has the electronic system fitted before ordering.
