XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW Z3 6 CYL 1995-2003

The Z3 6-cylinder’s short wheelbase and front-engine, rear-drive layout make it eager to rotate the moment you lift or trail-brake into a bend – exactly the trait competitive drifting needs and exactly what the factory damping was never set up to control. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover for the BMW Z3 6 CYL (1995-2003) is built around that characteristic rather than fighting it.

Where a road-biased kit tries to settle body movement quickly and quietly, this coilover is tuned to keep the chassis composed through sustained high-speed rotation, so the car holds its angle instead of snapping or washing out. It’s the spec to reach for if the Z3 is heading to the circuit for drift work rather than commuting duty.

What this coilover brings to your build

Lowering the Z3’s ride height on this coilover, combined with a correctly set bump stroke, changes how the rear end transitions into and holds a slide – the geometry stops fighting the angle you’re trying to hold. Three external adjustment knobs give you a real range to work with, so compression and rebound can be leaned harder toward stability for a new drift car or opened up once you and the chassis are reading each other properly. Because the internals are built for stabilising the body through high-speed turning rather than isolating road imperfections, the Z3 feels planted at the point most road-tuned suspension gives up and lets the tail wander on its own. Ride height, damping and the resulting drift angle move together rather than working against each other, which is the whole point of a purpose-tuned drift coilover over a generic lowering kit.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a coilover built specifically for drift, not a general track kit relabelled for the discipline. The internal design is aimed at keeping the car’s body stable through hard, sustained cornering at speed, so the driver can hold a clean, consistent angle instead of correcting a chassis that’s still moving underneath them. Dropping the ride height and setting the bump stroke correctly is central to how the kit works – get that right and the drift control sharpens noticeably. The three adjustment knobs route damping oil through a deliberately small internal passage; over sharp bumps that can produce a faint noise from the knobs, which is a normal side effect of the design rather than a fault. It’s a trade-off XYZ Racing made deliberately, because this coilover is built for circuit-track surfaces where that particular bump behaviour simply isn’t a factor.

Fitment for the BMW Z3 6 CYL (1995-2003)

Built for the six-cylinder BMW Z3 (chassis code BM71) across the full 1995 to 2003 production run. Confirm your car sits within this year span and carries the 6-cylinder drivetrain before ordering, as this Pro Racing Drift Spec kit is specific to that configuration.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
