The Z3’s rear end started life as a semi-trailing-arm carryover from the E36 3-series, running a separate strut and spring rather than a combined unit – fine for a factory roadster, less so once you’re chasing consistent lap times. This Modified Rr Integrated fitment swaps that layout for a proper coilover architecture front and rear, which matters more on the 4-cylinder cars: with the 1.8i/1.9i M44 up front instead of a straight-six, the Z3 carries less nose weight and rotates differently into corners.
XYZ Racing’s Circuit Master is built for exactly that kind of sustained circuit work, not a one-off sprint or a static show stance. On a BMW Z3 running the 4-cylinder engine, that means a damper that holds its behaviour lap after this session and the next, rather than one tuned for a single quick pass.
What this coilover does for your 1995-2003 BMW Z3 4 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated)
With the rear axle now running a true coilover instead of the split strut-and-spring setup, body control through direction changes tightens up noticeably – less of the rear-end float the factory geometry was prone to under trail-braking. The 9720-way damping range on the Circuit Master gives you enough granularity to separate compression and rebound behaviour front-to-rear, useful given how differently the lighter 4-cylinder nose loads compared to a six-cylinder Z3. Ride height comes down with the kit, lowering the centre of gravity and cutting the roll that this era of BMW chassis is known for. On track, the result is a Z3 that turns in with less delay and settles faster once you’re back on the power out of a corner.
About the Circuit Master coilover
XYZ built the Circuit Master specifically for circuit-day use, and it’s the range XYZ’s own racing teams run and develop across international events rather than a road kit dressed up for track days. The headline figure is 9720 individual damping combinations, delivered through three external adjustment knobs, giving you enough range to set up for a fast, smooth circuit or a bumpier one without swapping hardware. Those knobs use a small-oil-hole metering design to achieve that resolution, and on rough sections of track the damper can produce a faint noise as oil moves through the passage – that’s the design working as intended, not a fault. The construction and valving are aimed squarely at repeated hard laps rather than a single quick blast, which is the whole point of a dedicated Circuit Master build.
Fitment for the BMW Z3 4 CYL (Modified Rr Integrated) (1995-2003)
This kit is mapped to chassis code BM70-1, covering 4-cylinder Bmw Z3 models built between 1995 and 2003 with the Modified Rr Integrated rear conversion. Confirm your car uses the 4-cylinder engine and the integrated rear coilover configuration rather than the factory split strut-and-spring rear before ordering, as the two setups aren’t interchangeable.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
Top mounts included with your kit
Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.
Front
Pillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
Hardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
Rear
Pillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
