XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E92 M3 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2007-2011

The E92 M3’s factory-fit electronic dampers were calibrated for smooth circuit tarmac and B-road driving, not the sustained, high-frequency hammering of a rally special stage. Any privateer who has pointed a 4.0-litre S65 V8 down a gravel track knows the standard EDC units run out of usable travel fast, and the electronics fight every input the surface throws back. This Gravel Rally coilover kit for the 2007-2011 E92 M3 replaces that setup entirely, and the fitment includes the cancellation kit needed to bypass the car’s electronic damping control so the mechanical dampers can run without the ECU arguing back.

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally coilover for exactly this scenario, and putting one under an E92 M3 is an unusual but deliberate choice – a heavy, front-engined coupe asking for the wheel travel and shock absorption normally reserved for rally-cross builds. It is not a track-day part. It is built for stages where the road surface changes from sandstone to silt within a single corner.

What this coilover does for your 2007-2011 Bmw 3 Series E92 M3

The E92’s nose-heavy V8 layout loads the front dampers hard under braking into a rough compression, and this kit’s long stroke gives that mass somewhere to go instead of translating straight into the chassis. Long springs paired with the extended stroke let the M3 absorb repeated chassis vibration from broken surfaces without the harshness a shorter-travel road coilover would transmit through the seat and steering wheel. The inverted tube damper body copes with sand, snow and silt getting thrown up into the strut without compromising damper action mid-stage – a real concern when you are running an E92 somewhere the factory EDC system was never designed to see. Because the electronic damping is cancelled rather than left to interfere, the spring and damper rates you set are the rates actually acting on the car, corner to corner, without an ECU softening or stiffening things mid-stage on its own logic. Expect the car to settle and track straighter over washboard and rutted surfaces where the standard suspension would be pattering and skipping.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for rally and rally-cross competition, where road conditions are the most aggressive a chassis will see in motorsport. The inverted tube construction is a deliberate response to that environment – flipping the conventional damper orientation to better shield the working parts from the sandstone, snow and silt that gravel stages throw at a car. Stroke length and spring length are both extended over a road or circuit coilover, giving the damper the range to soak up chassis vibration from a bouncy, high-speed surface and to hold composure under the extreme cornering loads a gravel stage generates. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set and validated by an actual rally racing team rather than derived on a bench, which matters when the failure mode on a stage is a broken car rather than a slow lap. For the E92 M3, that translates into a damper built to survive terrain the car was never homologated for, married to spring rates proven under real competition loads rather than road-car assumptions.

Fitment for the Bmw 3 Series E92 M3 (Modified Rr Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2007-2011)

This kit is specced for the E92-generation 3 Series M3, chassis code BM90-C, covering the 2007 to 2011 production run. The listing includes the modified rear integrated mounting and the cancellation kit required to disable the car’s factory electronic damping control, so the mechanical dampers in this kit are not fighting the standard EDC electronics once fitted.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
