XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW 3 SERIES E46 4 CYL 4WD 1998-2005

The E46’s four-wheel-drive chassis code BM31 changes what a 3 Series does at big slip angles. Drive feeding through the front axle via the viscous coupling alters how the body loads and unloads through a committed entry, and the factory dampers were never calibrated to hold that. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover is built around a different job entirely – keeping the car settled at a controlled angle rather than simply cornering flat.

On a 4-cylinder E46 running 4WD, competitive drifting means managing weight transfer across both axles at once, not just the rear. This kit is set up to keep that transition predictable, so the car answers steering and throttle inputs the same way lap after entry, rather than shifting its balance mid-slide.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 BMW 3 SERIES E46 4 CYL 4WD

Dropping the ride height on a proper bump stroke sharpens the drift control on this chassis noticeably – it lowers the centre of gravity and quickens the car’s response to steering angle and countersteer correction. The three external adjustment knobs let you separate compression and rebound circuits so you can firm up body control for a fast, committed entry without losing the front axle’s contribution mid-corner. Because the E46 4WD carries drive to the front wheels, a well-controlled front end matters as much as the rear here, and this set-up is tuned to stabilise both together as the car rotates through a big slip angle.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

This is a drift-specific design rather than a general track coilover. XYZ Racing built it to stabilise the car’s body through high-speed turn-in so the driver can hold a clean, repeatable angle instead of the chassis wandering mid-slide. The internal valving uses three adjustment knobs feeding a small-oil-hole passage, which sharpens response but means you may hear a faint noise from the damper over larger bumps – that’s the oil moving through the restricted passage as designed, not a fault, and it’s expected on the circuit-track surfaces this coilover is built for. Combined with a correctly set bump stroke, the result is a suspension that holds its composure while you’re deliberately unsettling the rest of the car.

Fitment for the BMW 3 SERIES E46 4 CYL 4WD (1998-2005)

Fits the BMW 3 Series E46, chassis code BM31, 4-cylinder engine with four-wheel-drive transmission, across the 1998 to 2005 production run. Confirm your specific engine and drivetrain code against your V5 before ordering, as E46 4WD variants span several sub-models within this range.

Built for drivers who already know this chassis’s quirks and want the suspension to match – configure your spec below.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
