XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Audi S4 B5 4WD 1997-2002

The B5 S4’s quattro layout puts a twin-turbo V6 ahead of the front axle, then splits torque through a Torsen centre differential that resists exactly the kind of yaw a drift car needs to generate on command. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built around that problem: a chassis with genuine nose weight and all-wheel drive, running in a discipline built on rear-biased, sideways attitude.

For drivers taking the AU14-1 platform into competitive drifting, the priority isn’t outright grip – it’s controllable body movement at the limit. This kit drops the ride height, tightens the spring rate, and gives you the adjustment range to hold an angle rather than just survive one.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2002 Audi S4 B5 4WD

Lower a B5 S4’s ride height and you’re working against a chassis that was never tuned for lateral slip – the quattro system’s default instinct is to claw grip back and straighten the car out. A tightened, properly sprung setup keeps body roll in check through the transition from lock to opposite lock, so the extra weight sitting over the front axle stops fighting your entry and starts supporting a controlled slide instead. Correctly matched bump stroke means the suspension has somewhere left to go when you load the outside corner mid-drift, rather than topping or bottoming out and kicking the car straight. The result is a car that holds its line through a slide instead of correcting itself out of one.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec line around one job: keeping the car’s body settled while you’re deliberately unsettling the rear end. Rather than chasing maximum lateral grip, the spring and damping setup is calculated to control weight transfer through a slide, so the body holds a consistent attitude instead of pitching and rolling every time you countersteer. Ride height comes down as part of the package, and the bump stroke is set to match that new height – get that pairing wrong and the car either bottoms out mid-drift or runs out of travel exactly when you’re loading the suspension hardest. Get it right, which is what this kit is calculated to do, and holding an angle through a long corner becomes a repeatable input from the driver rather than a fight to keep the car pointed the way you want it.

Fitment for the Audi S4 B5 4WD (1997-2002)

This kit is built to the AU14-1 chassis code, covering the Audi S4 B5 in quattro all-wheel-drive form across the 1997 to 2002 model years. Confirm your S4 sits within that build window before ordering, since running gear on the B5 platform changed through its production life.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
