XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Alfa Romeo GIULIA 952 4WD (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2016-2026

The Giulia 952 Q4’s factory Alfa Active Suspension runs electronically controlled dampers, and that’s the problem the moment you want to run a manual set-up: the ECU expects a variable-damper signal that simply doesn’t exist once you’ve gone mechanical. This Tarmac Rally coilover kit for the Alfa Romeo Giulia bundles the cancellation module needed to remove that dependency, together with the modified rear integrated mounting that lets the 952’s rear subframe geometry accept a manual damper without the factory multi-link picking up stress it was never designed to carry.

Tarmac Rally is a different brief to a track-day Top Sport set-up. Sealed-stage events throw camber changes, mid-corner ruts and unpredictable surface breaks at a car in quick succession, and the Giulia’s aluminium-heavy chassis and near 50:50 weight distribution need a damper that keeps the tyre loaded through all of it rather than just stiff for a smooth circuit lap.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Alfa Romeo Giulia

On stage, the biggest gain is what you don’t feel: the damper soaks up the jolt from a mid-corner rut or a broken edge before it reaches the body, so the chassis stays settled instead of skipping. That control keeps the contact patch loaded through direction changes, which on a 4WD Giulia translates directly into traction you can put down earlier out of a hairpin. Because the cancellation kit removes the electronic damper’s interference, the mechanical valving does the work consistently, corner to corner, rather than fighting a control unit that’s still trying to interpret a signal from a sensor that no longer exists.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally is built around absorbing impact from uneven pavement rather than smoothing out a clean apex. Valving is set to soak up a hard hit across a big compression – a pothole, a broken edge, a mid-stage camber change – without transmitting that shock straight into the body, which is what keeps the tyre gripping rather than skipping across the surface. The result is a damper that holds the car’s stability through the kind of surface changes a closed circuit never presents. XYZ’s own Tarmac Rally programme informs the base valving and spring rates that ship in this kit, rather than settings adapted from a road or circuit product.

Fitment for the Alfa Romeo Giulia (2016-2026)

Confirmed for the 952-generation Giulia Q4 4WD, chassis code AL14-C, 2016 to 2026. This kit is specific to cars fitted with electronically controlled dampers from the factory – the cancellation module and modified rear integrated mounting are what allow a manual coilover to replace the Alfa Active Suspension set-up without triggering a fault or leaving the rear geometry under load it wasn’t designed for.
