XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mazda 323 1989-1994

Launch a BG-generation Mazda 323 hard and the run is decided in the first metre, before the gearbox has done any real work. This XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around that moment: it controls how the chassis loads its driven wheels off the line so the contact patch bites instead of spinning. From the front-drive hatchbacks and saloons to the four-wheel-drive GT-X and GT-R turbo models, the kit is set up to put mass where the traction needs to be.

This is a single-discipline coilover, tuned for 0-400 metre drag running rather than fast-road comfort or circuit balance. On a light, short-wheelbase platform like the 323, that focus counts for more than it would on a heavier car – there is less mass to settle, so launch behaviour is unusually sensitive to how the suspension transfers load.

What this coilover does for your 1989-1994 Mazda 323

Off the line, the spring and damper settings let the 323 shift weight onto its driven axle the instant you load the drivetrain, forcing the drive tyres into harder compression. That extra vertical load is what trims wheelspin and shortens the time the tyre spends scrabbling before it hooks up. Down the strip, the same setup keeps the car planted as speed climbs, so the front end stays composed through the traps. Ride height adjustment lets you set launch rake to suit your tyre and the surface you are running on.

About the Drag Racing coilover

The Drag Racing series is engineered specifically for straight-line 0-400 metre work and is offered for front-, rear- and four-wheel-drive platforms, which covers the full spread of BG 323 variants. Its central idea is controlled weight management: the valving and spring choice are picked to throw load front-to-rear under instant throttle, biasing compression toward whichever tyres are putting the power down. The payoff is reduced wheel idle – less of that dead moment where the tyre spins without driving the car – and steadier stability once the 323 is at high speed. Height adjustment is built in so you can tune launch attitude. This is deliberately a narrow tool, not a comfort-first all-rounder.

Fitment for the Mazda 323 (1989-1994)

Engineered for the BG-generation Mazda 323 (chassis code MA13) across the 1989 to 1994 model years. The Drag Racing kit suits both the FWD and 4WD variants of this platform. Confirm your exact engine and drivetrain in the configurator before ordering.

Set your drivetrain and spec for the Mazda 323 in the configurator below and build yours.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
