XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Fiat BERTONE X1/9 1982-1989

The Fiat Bertone X1/9’s mid-engined, sub-tonne layout gives it a balance most small cars of its era never had – but it also means weight transfer happens fast, and standard travel runs out quickly once the surface turns loose. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for the Fiat Bertone X1/9 (1982-1989) is built for exactly that: rally and rallycross use, where the road disappears and the suspension has to keep working over rough ground.

This is the long-travel end of the XYZ range. Where a circuit kit trades suspension movement for tarmac control, the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow keeps the travel a loose-surface car needs, then manages it with serious oil and gas capacity so the dampers stay consistent when a stage runs long.

What this coilover does for your 1982-1989 Fiat Bertone X1/9

On gravel or snow, the extra front and rear travel gives the mid-engined chassis a larger buffer before the suspension runs out, keeping the X1/9 settled over crests and ruts instead of skipping wide. The enlarged oil and nitrogen volume resists fade, so the damping you set at the start of a stage is still there at the end. Three-way adjustment lets you separate how the car reacts to small surface chatter from how it deals with big compressions – useful on a light car that can be unsettled by both. The result is a Bertone X1/9 that puts its modest weight to work, finding grip where a stiff tarmac setup would simply bounce off the surface.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is engineered first for rally and rallycross rather than smooth circuits. Its defining feature is longer stroke at both axles, which increases the buffer distance and holds the car stable when the surface throws it around. To support that travel, XYZ extend the volume of both damper oil and nitrogen gas – more fluid and gas means the shock resists the heat build-up that drains performance over a long run of repeated impacts. Adjustment runs through three knobs, giving independent control over the damper’s response. Those same knobs use a small-orifice oil passage; over large bumps you may hear a faint noise as fluid moves through it, which is normal for this design rather than a fault. It is a coilover built around endurance on rough ground, not outright stiffness.

Fitment for the Fiat BERTONE X1/9 (1982-1989)

This kit is matched to the Bertone-built X1/9, chassis code FI03, covering the 1982 to 1989 production run after Bertone took the car over from Fiat. Confirm your year falls inside that span before ordering; the coilover is specified for this chassis, not the earlier Fiat-badged cars.

The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is a focused, loose-surface coilover for a rare mid-engined platform – choose your spring and damping options and build yours below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
