Caliper render for this kit:

The Mk4 R32 carries its 3.2-litre VR6 slung high over the front axle, and that weight bias means the rear brakes spend most of their life doing the lighter half of the work. On a fast road run that is fine. String together repeated heavy stops on a circuit or a quick B-road and the standard rear setup starts lagging the fronts, leaving the car’s braking balance feeling vague at exactly the moment you want it sharpest. This XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Volkswagen GOLF 4 R32 (2001-2004) addresses that rear-axle shortfall directly.
It pairs hollow-vane discs with a fixed caliper to add thermal headroom and bite at the back of a heavy 4MOTION hatch, so the rear keeps pace with an uprated front end instead of being the weak link in the system.
What this brake kit does for your 2001-2004 Volkswagen GOLF 4 R32
The first thing you feel is a firmer, more linear pedal under hard use, because the larger rear discs shrug off the heat that fades a tired standard setup. On an R32 that runs close to 1.5 tonnes, that extra rear thermal capacity steadies the car’s brake balance into a corner, trimming the nose-led plough this chassis is prone to and giving you confidence to trail the brake later. Pad compound is your tuning lever here: the Street option keeps the daily R32 quiet and clean-wheeled, the Sport pad adds fast-road bite with the heat range for the occasional track day, and the Racing compound holds its bite through back-to-back sessions. The result is a rear axle that finally pulls its weight when you are pressing on.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
The kit is built around two-piece floating discs with a hollow-vane core, a design that pares rotating and unsprung mass at the rear without giving up swept area or heat capacity. Lighter rotating mass at the hub means the suspension reacts faster over surface changes and the brakes come up to working temperature predictably. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for harder use that drops the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. Three pad compounds are offered, Street, Sport and Racing, so the same hardware suits a road-biased R32 or a car that sees regular track time. Faces come drilled or slotted at the same price, and calipers come finished in the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, premium polished-forged and candy finishes, or any Pantone as a custom colour, so the upgrade reads as intended behind the wheel spokes rather than as an afterthought. It is a rear-specific pair, designed to work alongside the front brakes rather than replace the whole system.
Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF 4 R32 (2001-2004)
This kit is specified for the Volkswagen GOLF 4 R32 across the 2001 to 2004 production run, in the rear position only and supplied as a left-and-right pair. It is built for the R32 variant of the Mk4 platform specifically, so it accounts for that car’s 4MOTION rear end rather than a generic Golf fitment.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
