Caliper render for this kit:

The 996 C4 carries the bulk of its mass over the rear axle, and the Carrera 4’s all-wheel-drive hardware adds weight that the rear brakes have to haul down on every stop from speed. That rearward bias is exactly why the back end of a 996 does more braking work than the chassis lets on, and why a tired rear setup shows up as a long, vague pedal long before the fronts cry off.
This XYZ Racing rear big brake kit for the Porsche 996 C4 (2001-2004) is built to restore that bite and hold it when the back axle is working hardest – heavy trail-braking into a corner, repeated stops down from motorway speed, or a track session where the rear discs never fully cool. It is a rear-axle kit: a matched pair of left and right calipers and two uprated discs, so it is as much about brake balance as outright stopping power.
What this brake kit does for your 2001-2004 Porsche 996 C4
On a rear-heavy 911, the rear brakes set how settled the car feels as you load the front under braking. A fresh, consistent rear clamp keeps the 996 C4 stable into the corner instead of stepping out as weight transfers forward. Three pad compounds – Street, Sport and Racing – let you match the kit to how the car is used, from a road-driven Carrera 4 to a hard-driven track day. The Racing compound holds friction through the heat that a rear 911 rotor builds, the Sport pad covers fast road and occasional laps, while the Street pad keeps cold bite and low dust for daily miles. Caliper finishes run Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no cost, with premium colours available, so the look behind the wheel matches the build.
About the rear big brake kit
The kit pairs a multi-piston caliper with a vented rear rotor, and the hollow-vane construction trims rotating and unsprung mass at the back axle – useful on a 996 where the rear is already the heavy end. The rotors are two-piece floating discs run on braided lines, keeping the face flat and the pedal firm under heat. Less mass spinning behind the rear wheels helps the suspension settle and sharpens how quickly the rear brakes respond to pedal input. The caliper is sized to work with the standard front brakes or a matched XYZ Racing front kit, keeping front-to-rear balance sensible rather than over-braking the back. Compound choice is the main tuning lever here: Street for quiet, dust-light replacement, Sport for harder road use, and Racing for sustained high-temperature work. Calipers are hollow-bodied as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade (no dust cover, rated 1000C, two-year warranty) for hard circuit work. Painted finishes are included free in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black; a Custom Color in any Pantone is +£150, with premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver and candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange finishes available. Discs are drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized or titanium centre bells selectable at checkout, and the colour options do not change the spec.
Fitment for the Porsche 996 C4 (2001-2004)
This kit is specific to the 996-generation Carrera 4 (C4) with all-wheel drive, across the 2001 to 2004 model years – a span that includes the 2002 facelift cars. It fits the rear axle only. Confirm your chassis is a 996 C4 rather than a rear-drive C2 before ordering, as the AWD platform is the intended application.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
