Caliper render for this kit:

Hard braking in a supercharged R53 Cooper S loads the nose and leaves the rear axle light, which is exactly why the factory rear discs were sized modestly and why they are the first thing to cook on a busy track day. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Mini Cooper S (R53) swaps that undersized rear end for a two-piece floating disc setup that adds thermal capacity without piling rotating mass onto a short, nervous chassis.
Built for 2002-2006 cars driven hard on road and circuit, this single rear-axle kit fits a matched pair of rear calipers and discs to restore front-to-rear balance, so the stubby-wheelbase Mini stays settled when you trail the brakes into a tight apex. Three pad compounds and an uprated caliper let you set the rear bias to suit fast-road use or repeat-session track work.
What this brake kit does for your 2002-2006 Mini Cooper S (R53)
On a car this light and this short between the axles, every kilo of unsprung and rotating mass at the rear corner shows up in how the Cooper S changes direction. The hollow-vane disc strips weight from the rear hubs, so the back axle follows the R53’s quick steering more cleanly and recovers faster over mid-corner bumps. Larger, better-cooled rear discs hold a firm pedal deeper into a braking zone, which matters here because the supercharged Cooper S carries real speed into corners and punishes a fading rear end. Fit the Racing compound and the rear stays consistent through a full track session; choose Street and you keep quiet, low-dust stopping for the daily commute, with Sport sitting in between for hard road use.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
The Hollow rear brake kit takes its name from its rotor: instead of a solid casting, the two-piece floating disc uses a hollow-vane internal structure that cuts rotating and unsprung mass while keeping a large friction face for heat to shed into. That rotor pairs with the kit’s caliper, which is hollow-bodied as standard and clamps more evenly than the sliding factory unit for a firmer, more predictable rear pedal. You choose the friction level to match how you drive: a Street compound for quiet, low-dust road use, a Sport compound for sharper fast-road bite with manageable dust and noise, or a Racing compound built to hold its coefficient of friction at sustained circuit temperatures. Discs are drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized or titanium centre bells selectable when you order. Included caliper colours are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no cost, with a Custom Color in any Pantone, polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange as premium options. A Hollow Racing caliper upgrade is available for serious circuit use. It is engineered as a direct-fit rear setup for the R53, so disc sizing and bracketry are specific to this Mini rather than a universal fitment.
Fitment for the Mini COOPER S (R53) (2002-2006)
This is a rear-axle kit fitted specifically to the first-generation Mini Cooper S on the R53 chassis, covering 2002 to 2006 supercharged cars. It addresses the rear corners only, so it sits naturally alongside a matching front big brake kit if you want to overhaul both ends. Confirm your build year falls inside the 2002-2006 R53 window before ordering.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
