Caliper render for this kit:

The W220 S-Class hides its mass well right up until you ask the brakes to repeat the favour. On the S 320, a comfort-tuned saloon built to cross continents at a cruise, the rear axle does quiet but constant work hauling close to two tonnes down from motorway pace. This XYZ Racing Rear Big Brake Kit for the Mercedes Benz S Class W220 S 320 (1998-2002) replaces the standard rear setup with a lighter, more thermally stable package that holds its bite when the original discs would start to glaze and go long.
Supplied as a matched pair of rear calipers and rear discs, the two-piece floating disc trims rotating mass at the back axle, while the larger friction area gives the rear of the car more to lean on during sustained or repeated stops. For a heavy executive saloon that spends its life loaded with passengers and luggage, that rear-axle reserve is exactly where the factory brakes begin to feel vague.
What this brake kit does for your 1998-2002 Mercedes Benz S Class W220 S 320
Fitted to the rear of the W220, this kit firms up pedal response and pushes back the point where the brakes start to fade under heavy or back-to-back stops. The two-piece floating disc sheds heat faster than the solid factory item, so a car carrying four adults and a boot full of luggage settles into a more consistent pedal. You also get to match the friction to how you drive: the Street compound suits everyday motorway miles with low dust, Sport steps up the bite and widens the heat range, and the Racing compound is there for owners running their S 320 hard on faster roads. The end result is a rear axle that contributes more honestly to overall stopping balance rather than trailing the fronts.
About the rear big brake kit
The kit is built around a vented two-piece floating disc that cuts rotating weight without giving up swept area, paired with XYZ Racing calipers clamped onto the rear hubs of the W220; the ring can be specified drilled or slotted at the same price. The floating profile aids cooling and helps the disc shrug off the heat soak that comes from braking a heavy saloon repeatedly. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade (no dust cover, rated to 1000C, two-year warranty) for hard track use. Three pad compounds are offered: Street for refined, low-dust daily use, Sport for sharper response and a wider heat range on a fast road, and Racing for the most committed driving. Painted caliper finishes come at no cost in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black; a Custom Color in any Pantone is GBP 150, and premium polished-forged finishes (Titanium, Polished Gold, Polished Silver), candy finishes (Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red, Candy Orange) and two-tone or titanium centre bells are also available, so the upgrade can sit discreetly behind the wheels or stand out against them. It is a bolt-on brake package designed specifically for this chassis rather than a generic disc swap.
Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S CLASS W220 S 320 (1998-2002)
This kit is cut for the W220 S-Class in S 320 specification, covering the 1998 to 2002 build span. It fits the rear axle only and is matched to that chassis and trim. Confirm your exact year and variant against the listing before configuring.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
