Caliper render for this kit:

The second-generation CX-9 puts the thick end of two tonnes across three rows of seats, and in 2WD form the bulk of that mass sits over the front axle. The rear brakes lead an easy life right up until they don’t: load the boot for a family run, hook up a caravan, or descend a long pass with seven aboard, and the standard rear setup starts working far harder than its size suggests. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Mazda CX-9 2WD (TC) MK2 is the answer to that imbalance.
It is a rear-axle package, a pair of left and right rear calipers with matched discs built around hollow disc construction and an upgraded caliper, offered with a choice of pad compound. The point is not outright power for its own sake but heat capacity and consistency at the back of a heavy SUV, the quality that keeps the pedal firm and the car settled when a single hard stop becomes ten in a row.
What this brake kit does for your 2017-2026 Mazda CX-9 2WD (TC) MK2
The first thing you feel is rear-axle stability under heavy braking. A larger, hollow rear disc gives the back of the CX-9 more thermal headroom, so the brake balance stays predictable instead of migrating forward as the standard discs heat-soak. That matters most when the car is doing what a seven-seat Mazda actually does: motorway work fully laden, towing, and long downhill runs where engine braking alone is not enough. The choice of Street, Sport, or Racing pad compound lets you match bite and fade resistance to your use, from quiet commuting to hard, repeated stops. Trimming rotating mass at the rear also takes a little strain off the suspension as each wheel follows the road.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
XYZ Racing builds this kit around a hollow rear disc, a two-piece floating design that trims rotating and unsprung weight while opening up more surface area to shed heat. The upgraded caliper and larger disc give the rear axle more consistent clamping as temperatures climb, so pedal feel holds up across repeated stops rather than going long. Discs are offered drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized centre bells in five colours or titanium selectable at checkout. Three pad compounds are offered: a Street option for ordinary road use, a Sport compound for owners who drive harder or carry more weight, and a Racing compound built for sustained high-temperature work. The hollow-body caliper is standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade rated to 1000C, no dust cover and a two-year warranty for serious track use. The caliper comes in a choice of included painted finishes (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black), a Custom Color, or the premium polished and candy ranges, so the upgrade looks intentional behind an open rear wheel. It is built specifically for the rear of the 2WD CX-9, working alongside the front brakes rather than replacing them.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
