Caliper render for this kit:

The E53 was BMW’s first heavy SUV, and at comfortably over two tonnes it asks far more of its rear axle than any saloon the brand built alongside it. Load the boot, hitch a trailer, or press on down a quick B-road and the rear brakes are doing genuine work to keep more than a tonne of rearward mass settled and stopping straight. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Bmw X5 E53 tackles that head on, replacing the standard rear setup with larger, lighter two-piece discs and an upgraded caliper as a matched pair.
This is a rear-axle kit sized specifically for the 1999-2006 X5 and built to shed the heat that all that weight generates under repeat stops. Pad compound is your choice of Street, Sport or Racing, so the same hardware suits a daily-driven 3.0d, a towing rig, or an owner exercising a 4.6is on a track day.
What this brake kit does for your 1999-2006 Bmw X5 E53
The biggest gain on a car this heavy is heat capacity. A larger swept area and the hollow-vane disc design give the rear brakes more thermal headroom, so the pedal stays firmer through descents, towing, and successive hard stops where the original discs would start to fade. The lighter two-piece rotors also cut rotating and unsprung mass at the rear, which lets the rear dampers settle the axle more quickly over rough surfaces. The Racing pad option bites harder when hot for circuit and spirited road use, while the Street and Sport compounds keep things quiet, low-dust and progressive for everyday driving. Painted caliper finishes come in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no extra cost, so the rear setup can match the front and the car.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
The Hollow rear brake kit takes its name from its hollow-vane disc construction, which trims weight from the rotor while opening up extra cooling area to pull heat out of the braking surface faster than a solid equivalent. The disc is a two-piece floating design, so the braking ring can expand under heat without warping the bell. That matters most on a vehicle as heavy as the X5, where rear brake temperatures climb quickly under load. The kit is offered in three pad compounds: Street for quiet, low-dust road use, Sport for sharper fast-road response, and Racing for sustained high-temperature track work, so the same disc-and-caliper package can be specified for very different uses. The caliper body is hollow-cast as standard; serious track users can add the Hollow Racing upgrade, which removes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. Painted calipers come in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black, with premium polished-forged and candy finishes available, while discs can be drilled or slotted at the same price, braided lines are included, and the centre bell can be upgraded to a two-tone anodized colour or titanium. Every part is matched to the rear axle of this chassis rather than adapted from a generic fitment.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
