Caliper render for this kit:

The F10-generation 5 Series carries real mass – it is a long-wheelbase executive saloon that hides its weight until you ask the brakes to scrub it off repeatedly. On the 523i, with its softer petrol tune, the rear axle does more recovery work than owners expect, and the standard rear discs heat-soak quickly on a fast B-road or a long Alpine descent. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the BMW 5 Series F10 523 goes after exactly that: rear-axle braking that stays consistent when the factory setup starts to fade.
This is a rear-axle kit built around two-piece floating discs – a pair of left and right rear calipers and discs – with hollow-vane friction rings that trim rotational and unsprung mass at each rear corner. Paired with a front upgrade it restores front-to-rear balance on a heavy saloon; run on its own it firms up pedal feel and shortens the recovery between hard stops.
What this brake kit does for your 2010-2016 BMW 5 Series F 10 523
After fitting, the first thing you notice on the 523i is a firmer, more linear pedal – the vented two-piece discs shed heat faster, so the bite point stays where you left it instead of creeping long as the rear axle warms, with braided lines holding the feel. On a saloon of this size and weight that means more confidence trail-braking into a roundabout, or holding a steady speed down a gradient without the pedal going soft. The three pad compounds let you match the rear axle to how you actually drive: Street for the commute, Sport for spirited road use and occasional track days, Racing for harder track days and sustained high-load work. Less rotating mass at the rear also eases the job of the softly-sprung F10’s rear dampers over broken surfaces.
About the Hollow Rear Brake Kit
The Hollow rear brake kit is built around two-piece floating discs: a hollow-vane friction ring on an alloy bell that cuts mass without giving up the swept area a heavy car needs to manage heat. Lower rotating mass at each rear hub means the discs spin up and wind down with less inertia, and they clear heat more readily between braking events. The kit is offered with three pad compounds – Street, Sport and Racing – so the same hardware suits a daily 523i or a car that sees occasional circuit use, and discs can be specified drilled or slotted at the same price. The caliper body is hollow-cast as standard, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for serious track use that drops the dust cover for a 1000C rating and a two-year warranty. Calipers come painted at no extra cost in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black, with Custom Color in any Pantone for £150, premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange; centre bells upgrade to two-tone anodized in five colours or to titanium. The hardware is matched to the F10 rear axle.
Fitment for the BMW 5 Series F 10 523 (2010-2016)
This kit is specified for the BMW 5 Series in F10 523 guise, covering the 2010 to 2016 production run. It addresses the rear axle only, so it pairs naturally with a matching front kit or sits behind your existing front setup. Confirm your exact build year against the 2010-2016 span before configuring.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
