Caliper render for this kit:

The E87 1 Series was the rare rear-wheel-drive hatchback of its era, and that layout is exactly why a rear brake upgrade carries more weight here than on the front-drive rivals it shared a showroom with. The XYZ Racing rear brake kit for the BMW 1 Series E87 116 (OE160) targets the axle that manages weight transfer under braking and corner exit. On the 116, where the factory rear discs are modest, this kit sharpens the bite and resists the fade that creeps in over a string of hard stops.
The two-piece floating disc is the heart of it. Removing material from the disc body cuts rotating and unsprung mass at the rear axle, which the suspension reads as quicker response over surface changes. Run it alongside a front upgrade and you hold the front-to-rear balance the chassis was set up to expect, rather than overloading the nose.
What this brake kit does for your 2004-2011 BMW 1 Series E87 116
Behind the wheel the first thing you notice is pedal consistency. Three pad compound options, Street, Sport and Racing, let you match the kit to how the car is actually used, from town running to a full track day, with the Racing compound holding its bite when the rotors are hot and the Sport compound covering fast-road work. On a 116, which carries little mass over the rear axle, the upgraded discs give the rear end more to work with under trail-braking, so the back stays settled instead of going light. The reduced rotating mass also takes load off the rear suspension, showing up as cleaner reaction over kerbs and broken tarmac. A choice of caliper colours, including Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black or a custom Pantone finish, means the hardware looks right behind an open wheel.
About the Rear Brake Kit
The kit is supplied as a matched pair of left and right rear calipers and discs, built around two-piece floating rotors that strip weight out of the disc without surrendering thermal capacity. Less rotating mass at the rear axle means the brakes spin up and shed speed with less inertia, and less unsprung weight lets the rear suspension follow the road more closely. The hollow-vane disc comes drilled or slotted at the same price, fed by braided lines. The forged caliper is hollow-body as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade (no dust cover, 1000C rated, two-year warranty) for sustained circuit heat. The kit ships with three pad compounds, Street for road use, Sport for spirited fast-road driving, and Racing for circuit work, so the friction material can be matched to the heat the rear axle will see. Included painted caliper finishes are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, with a Custom Color in any Pantone for a small upcharge, plus premium polished-forged (Titanium, Polished Gold, Polished Silver) and candy (Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red, Candy Orange) finishes. Two-tone centre bells in five anodized colours, or titanium, are selectable at checkout. As a rear-only kit it is built to work with the front setup on the E87, keeping braking effort sensibly split between the two ends.
Fitment for the BMW 1 Series E87 116 (OE160) (2004-2011)
This kit is cut specifically for the E87-chassis BMW 1 Series in 116 (OE160) form, across the 2004 to 2011 production run. It fits the rear axle and references the OE160 disc specification, so it maps to the factory rear hardware on this exact variant. Confirm your car reads E87 before ordering, as the wider first-generation 1 Series family used several body codes.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
