Caliper render for this kit:

The 8L-generation A3 quattro carries most of its mass over the front axle, which means the rear brakes spend their standard life doing comparatively little of the work. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Audi A3 4WD (1998-2002) sets out to correct that imbalance, giving the rear axle enough thermal headroom to keep pulling its weight once you start using the brakes hard.
This is a rear-axle kit, a matched pair of left and right rear calipers and two-piece floating discs, aimed at fast-road and track use on the four-wheel-drive A3, where repeated heavy stops expose the limits of the factory rear setup. The hollow-vane disc core cuts rotating and unsprung mass at each rear corner, and the kit is supplied with a choice of pad compound to match how the car is actually driven.
What this brake kit does for your 1998-2002 Audi A3 4WD
On a nose-heavy 4WD hatch, the first thing you feel is pedal consistency: a rear axle that resists fade holds the brake balance steady as the discs heat, so the car stops squarely instead of leaning on the fronts for everything. The hollow-vane core trims unsprung mass at the rear, which helps the quattro A3’s independent rear stay composed over mid-corner bumps under braking.
Pad compound sets the kit up for the use you want. Street is the quiet, low-dust default for road manners. Sport adds bite and heat range for harder fast-road driving and the odd track day. Racing is the full track compound for sessions where rear temperatures climb. Caliper finishes run from the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black through to any Pantone as a Custom Color, so the upgrade reads as deliberate behind the wheels.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
XYZ Racing builds this as a complete rear-axle package for the 4WD A3 rather than a simple pad-and-disc swap. The discs are two-piece and floating with a hollow-vane core: material is removed to lower rotating mass while keeping the friction face intact, which speeds up how quickly the disc sheds heat between stops. Because this is a rear kit, it is sized to work alongside the car’s front brakes and the Haldex-coupled 4WD system rather than overwhelm them, keeping the front-to-rear balance sensible on a road car.
Disc face is drilled or slotted at the same price, and centre bell upgrades, two-tone anodizing in five colours or titanium, are selectable when you order. The pad range spans Street, Sport and Racing compounds, so the same hardware suits a daily-driven A3 or a weekend track car. The caliper is hollow-body as standard, with premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver and candy Teal, Blue, Red and Orange beyond the included colours. A Hollow Racing caliper, with no dust cover, a 1000C rating and a two-year warranty, is there for serious track use. Each part is matched to the 1998-2002 A3 4WD application, so it fits the rear corners without the guesswork of a universal kit.
Fitment for the Audi A3 4WD (1998-2002)
This kit is cut for the four-wheel-drive Audi A3 of the 8L era, covering the 1998 to 2002 model years. It is a rear-axle fitment intended for the quattro car specifically. Confirm your A3 is the 4WD variant rather than the front-wheel-drive model before ordering, as the rear hardware differs between the two.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
