Caliper render for this kit:

The W164 ML 280 CDI tips the scales at over two tonnes in standard trim, and the factory brakes were sized to manage that mass under normal conditions, not extended heavy loads or repeated high-speed stops. Factor in a tow bar at capacity, a long Alpine descent, or a series of hard motorway stops, and the standard front discs begin to show their thermal limits. The XYZ Racing front big brake kit replaces that bottleneck with a system built around heat management and genuine stopping capacity for the W164’s weight class.
Hard braking in the ML concentrates load decisively on the front axle. The 4MATIC system’s weight transfer under deceleration means the front discs absorb the majority of kinetic energy on every stop, and on a two-tonne SUV that accumulates quickly over any sustained session. This kit answers that with a matched pair of left and right front calipers and two-piece floating discs.
What this brake kit does for your 2006-2011 Mercedes Benz ML 280 CDI 4MATIC W164
Larger swept area across the front axle means each braking input has more disc surface to work with, reducing the temperature rise per stop. The hollow-vane rotor draws air through the disc face as the wheel turns, managing heat soak between braking events rather than simply building it, while the two-piece floating construction lets the friction ring grow under heat without coning the disc and reduces rotating mass at the front. The three pad compounds let the system match the car’s actual duty cycle: Street is the quiet, low-dust road default for owners whose priority is capacity and consistency on mixed-use driving, Sport adds bite and heat range for regular road work including towing, and Racing is the track compound for those who put the ML through genuinely high-demand cycles. Disc faces are offered drilled or slotted at the same price.
About the Front Brake Kit
This is a front-axle brake upgrade designed to extend the stopping envelope of heavy SUV and 4×4 platforms beyond standard factory specification. The hollow-vane rotor moves air through the swept disc face under rotation, making heat management a continuous function rather than a reactive one. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, light and stiff to resist flex under load, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade for sustained track work that deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C, and carries a two-year warranty. Braided lines keep the pedal firm, and centre bells can be upgraded to two-tone anodizing in five colours or to titanium at checkout.
Included painted caliper colours are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, and Anodized Black at no extra cost, with a Custom Color in any Pantone for an additional 150 pounds. Premium polished-forged finishes (Titanium, Polished Gold, Polished Silver) and candy finishes (Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red, Candy Orange) let owners match the finish to an existing wheel or body scheme, or use the caliper as a deliberate visual statement on a platform where it sits clearly in view.
Fitment for the Mercedes Benz ML 280 CDI 4MATIC W164 (2006-2011)
This front brake kit is built for the W164-generation ML 280 CDI 4MATIC, covering the 2006 through 2011 model years and supplied as a left-and-right front pair. Confirm your chassis designation is W164 before ordering, as the earlier W163 ML and the successor W166 use different front suspension and caliper mounting geometry that this kit does not suit.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
