Caliper render for this kit:

At over two tonnes of kerb weight, the Kia MOHAVE (BORREGO)’s front axle carries the bulk of every deceleration event, and it carries more of it than most passenger cars ever ask of their brakes. The OE setup handles everyday stop-start motorway running without complaint, but load the cabin, hook up a trailer rated anywhere near the MOHAVE’s towing ceiling, or descend a long gradient repeatedly, and brake fade stops being a theoretical concern. The XYZ Racing front big brake kit addresses that specific scenario, not by overpromising on a standard-duty platform, but by giving the front axle genuine additional headroom precisely when the factory hardware runs short.
Three pad compounds cover the realistic spread of MOHAVE ownership: daily use and loaded family runs, more assertive fast-road work, and off-road or endurance applications where sustained heat cycles are the expected operating condition. A full caliper finish range ensures the installation is visible through the MOHAVE’s alloys in whatever form suits the build.
What this brake kit does for your 2008-2018 Kia MOHAVE (BORREGO)
Body-on-frame construction means the MOHAVE carries mass that monocoque alternatives in its class simply do not, and that mass translates directly into thermal load on the front discs every time the vehicle slows. The two-piece floating disc circulates air through the rotor’s hollow-vane structure, pulling heat away faster and extending the window before thermal saturation begins to soften pedal feel. The floating bell keeps the rotor flat under load, the lighter rotating assembly trims unsprung mass, and braided lines firm the pedal. Sustained descents, where loaded SUV brakes consistently meet their limit, are where this difference becomes tangible.
Three compounds let buyers set bite from day one. Street is the quiet, low-dust default for owners who want improved hardware without a change in pedal behaviour. Sport adds bite and a wider heat range for more demanding fast-road application. Racing prioritises consistent performance at elevated temperatures for off-road event or track use. You select the compound when you order.
About the front big brake kit
The kit centres on a hollow-body forged caliper as standard paired with a two-piece floating disc at the front axle, the axle bearing the majority of braking duty on any vehicle, magnified here by the MOHAVE’s class weight. Hollow-vane rotors use internal air channels rather than relying on external surface area alone, making them more resistant to heat build-up across repeated high-load stops than solid equivalents at a comparable diameter. Discs are offered drilled or slotted at the same price, and centre bell upgrades come as two-tone anodizing in five colours, or titanium, selectable at checkout.
Included painted caliper colours are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost. A Custom Color in any Pantone is £150. Premium polished-forged finishes cover Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, with a premium candy range of Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red and Candy Orange. For endurance off-road or track use, the optional Hollow Racing caliper deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty.
Fitment for the Kia MOHAVE (BORREGO) (2008-2018)
This front big brake kit is confirmed for the Kia MOHAVE across its 2008-2018 production run, the same body-on-frame generation sold in North American markets as the Borrego. The MOHAVE ran a long single generation with a mid-cycle facelift, and this fitment covers the full span. Confirm your build date falls within the 2008-2018 window and verify the front axle configuration matches before ordering.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
