Caliper render for this kit:

The E39 520’s front brake package was specified for a car that, in standard form, weighs over 1,400kg and rarely sees more than a spirited motorway run. Take that same car to a circuit or push it hard through a mountain pass and you quickly discover where BMW made a commercial compromise: the factory front setup is sized for comfort, not for heat cycles.
That’s the gap this XYZ Racing Hollow Front Brake Kit fills. It is a single-axle front kit, a left and right pair of calipers on two-piece floating discs, set up at the configurator above. Three pad compounds, Street, Sport, and Racing, let you spec the front axle for the car’s actual job: daily driver with occasional track days, dedicated club car, or something in between. The two-piece floating disc handles the thermal load that the E39’s kerb weight generates in repeated hard stops.
What this brake kit does for your 1995-2003 Bmw 5 Series E39 520
The E39 platform distributes weight well front-to-rear by saloon standards, but 1,400kg-plus decelerating from motorway speeds concentrates a lot of energy in the front discs. The two-piece floating disc reduces unsprung and rotating mass while improving thermal management, so heat gets out faster, keeping pad friction coefficients in the linear range where pedal feel stays consistent, and the floating ring expands without coning. The result is braking that does not soften progressively through a session.
With three compound choices, the kit can be set up for the road on the quiet, low-dust Street pad without cold-bite sensitivity, stepped up to the Sport compound for harder fast-road use, or run on the Racing pad for circuit use where temperature build-up is the goal rather than the enemy. Caliper colour options, from the included no-cost painted finishes through to premium polished and candy choices, allow the hardware to sit coherently against any wheel choice on the E39’s measured proportions.
About the Hollow Front Brake Kit
The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, a construction that prioritises reduced mass at each front corner over a heavier OE-style unit. Reducing unsprung rotational weight at the front axle carries a secondary benefit on the E39 platform: the front suspension can react more quickly to surface inputs, which matters on the varied and often worn surfaces that make up most UK track-day venues. For serious circuit use, the optional Hollow Racing caliper deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C, and carries a two-year warranty.
The kit covers the front axle, pairing two-piece floating discs, drilled or slotted at the same price, with a caliper available in the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, and Anodized Black at no extra cost, a Custom Color in any Pantone, premium polished Titanium, Polished Gold, and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red, and Orange. Centre bells can be upgraded to two-tone anodized in five colours or to titanium at checkout. Pad specification runs from the Street compound across the cold-to-warm range of mixed road use, through Sport for harder fast-road and occasional circuit work, up to the full Racing compound for club events where controlled temperature windows are achievable. Because the kit is built around three pad options from the outset, compound changes as the car’s use evolves do not require new caliper hardware.
Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E39 520 (1995-2003)
This kit is listed for the E39-chassis BMW 5 Series 520, covering the full production run from 1995 to 2003. The 520 variant ran consistent front hub and suspension geometry across the E39 generation, making this a straightforward fitment within those model-year boundaries. Buyers should confirm the front brake assembly has not been modified with non-standard hardware before ordering.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
