Caliper render for this kit:

The E34 5 Series was BMW’s executive benchmark for the better part of a decade, but the 520 arrived from Munich with the lightest front brake package in the range, right-sized for a 150bhp saloon in 1988, yet visibly outclassed once these cars are driven as they deserve. Thirty-five years on, E34 520s regularly appear on fast-road runs and the occasional track day, and the original front hardware was never specified with that kind of sustained thermal load in mind.
This XYZ Racing Hollow Front Brake Kit is a direct front-axle upgrade for the BMW 5 Series E34 520 (1988-1996): a left and right pair of front calipers on two-piece floating discs, configured exactly as you want it at the configurator above. Three pad compounds, Street, Sport, and Racing, let the setup match how the car is actually used, and the full caliper colour range gives owners restoring or building E34s the flexibility to finish the installation properly.
What this brake kit does for your 1988-1996 Bmw 5 Series E 34 520
The 520’s front brake specification sat below that of the 525i and 530i riding on the same E34 platform, a sensible cost-tiering decision in 1988 that becomes a genuine limitation on a car now driven with intent. The hollow-vane disc evacuates heat from the friction surface faster than the original items, cutting brake fade during sustained downhill runs or repeated hard stops on a spirited route, while the two-piece floating construction reduces unsprung and rotating mass and lets the friction ring expand without coning. Three pad grades let owners calibrate friction to actual use: Street is the quiet, low-dust everyday choice, Sport adds bite and heat range for a fast-road E34, and Racing is the track compound for circuit days. Caliper colour options run from the included no-cost painted finishes through to the premium polished and candy ranges, so the visual result can match the build.
About the Hollow Front Brake Kit
The XYZ Racing caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, which keeps mass down at each front corner, paired with two-piece floating front discs and a choice of three pad compounds, Street, Sport, and Racing, covering everything from daily-driven classics to dedicated circuit machines. The vaned disc profile pulls air continuously through the friction surface, which matters on a car like the E34 520 where original brake temperatures were calculated around considerably more reserved road use. The Street compound handles everyday duties without drama, the Sport grade suits faster roads and mixed use, and the Racing compound is for sustained circuit temperatures where lesser pads would begin to fade well before you want them to. For serious track work, the optional Hollow Racing caliper deletes the dust cover, is rated to 1000C, and carries a two-year warranty. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, centre bells upgrade to two-tone anodized in five colours or to titanium at checkout, and caliper finish runs from the included Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, and Anodized Black through a Custom Color in any Pantone, premium polished Titanium, Polished Gold, and Polished Silver, and candy Teal, Blue, Red, and Orange. The kit covers the front axle only.
Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series E 34 520 (1988-1996)
This kit covers the BMW 5 Series E34 520 across the full production run from 1988 to 1996, spanning the M20B20-engined early cars and the M50B20 twin-cam models introduced during the 1991 model-year refresh. Both the Saloon and Touring body styles ran consistent front brake architecture across the E34 520’s production life.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
