Caliper render for this kit:

The 123d sits in an unusual position in the E87 range: a five-door hatchback with a twin-turbocharged diesel engine, rear-wheel drive, and torque that arrives low in the rev range and builds pace quickly enough to expose the standard front brakes under repeated hard use. On a daily commute they cope without complaint. Take a 123d to a track morning or carry sustained speed through the same sequence of corners twice in succession, and the fade that develops in the stock front setup becomes the limiting factor before the chassis does.
The XYZ Racing Hollow front big brake kit for the BMW 1 Series E87 123 addresses that directly. It is a single-axle front kit, supplying a matched pair of front calipers and front discs. Three pad compounds, Street, Sport and Racing, let the owner specify the setup to actual use rather than accepting a single factory compromise across all conditions.
What this brake kit does for your 2004-2011 Bmw 1 Series E 87 123
The E87’s rear-wheel-drive layout concentrates braking forces heavily through the front axle under hard deceleration, the same geometry that makes the 1 Series handle as engagingly as it does. Larger front discs extend the swept area and distribute thermal load over more material, which is the direct answer to the fade the stock setup produces when asked to repeat the same effort. The hollow-vane, two-piece floating discs do the thermal work, and the floating construction keeps pad contact even as the rotor expands.
The Street compound is the quiet, low-dust road default, with progressive bite when cold; the Sport compound covers the broadest spread of operating conditions, consistent through extended sessions; the Racing compound sacrifices some cold-morning compliance for a higher, more stable friction coefficient under sustained elevated temperatures. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price. Caliper finish runs from the included painted colours of Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, through Custom Color in any Pantone, to premium polished-forged and candy options, giving the finished result a considered look through the wheel spokes rather than leaving it to chance.
About the Hollow front brake kit
The XYZ Racing Hollow is the brand’s front big brake upgrade for performance-driven BMW applications. The caliper is hollow-bodied as standard, paring mass from the corner while preserving clamping force, and the kit centres on a larger-diameter two-piece floating disc assembly with swept area exceeding the standard E87 fitment, paired with a caliper and carrier bracket matched to the 123’s front hub geometry.
The three-compound pad system is the most practically useful feature for 123d owners who use the car in more than one context: Street for day-to-day operation where quiet cold performance matters, Sport for fast-road and occasional circuit use, and Racing for sustained track sessions where consistent friction performance under load is the priority. Disc style is drilled or slotted at the same price, and caliper finish covers the included painted colours of Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, alongside Custom Color in any Pantone and premium polished-forged or candy options, so the brake hardware becomes a deliberate visual element from the outset. Centre bell upgrades in two-tone anodized colours or titanium are selectable at checkout, alongside braided lines. For serious track use, the optional Hollow Racing caliper upgrade runs without a dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty.
Fitment for the Bmw 1 Series E 87 123 (2004-2011)
This kit is specified for the BMW 1 Series E87 five-door hatchback 123 variant across the full production span from 2004 to 2011. The E87 chassis code is the essential check before ordering; the E81 three-door, E82 coupé, and E88 convertible variants from the same period, along with other E87 engine grades, use different front hub and caliper carrier configurations and are not covered by this fitment.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
