Caliper render for this kit:

The 8N TT’s front-wheel-drive layout concentrates virtually all braking work through the front axle. With a turbocharged 1.8-litre bolted ahead of the centre line and no rear-drive torque to share the load, the front discs take punishment that rear-driven cars spread more evenly. The stock setup copes with road use without complaint, but on a track day, or on the kind of fast A-road where late, committed braking is routine, thermal headroom runs short.
This XYZ Racing Hollow Front Big Brake Kit is built for the 1998-2006 Audi TT 2WD 1.8T (8N), and specifically for cars delivered with a two-piece OE front caliper rather than the single-piece unit fitted to lower-specification cars in the same generation. That distinction matters: the mounting geometry differs between the two, and this kit is engineered around the two-piece platform. It is a single-axle front kit, supplying a matched pair of front calipers and front discs.
What this brake kit does for your 1998-2006 Audi TT 2WD 1.8T (8N)
Front-wheel drive means the front axle is simultaneously steering, managing the 1.8T’s torque under acceleration, and absorbing the full braking force of a car carrying over a tonne on the nose. The larger two-piece floating discs add heat-dissipation mass and swept area, so the temperature spike between brake applications drops meaningfully. The fade that creeps in on repeated stops comes later, if at all, and the reduced rotating mass at the front corners lightens steering response into the bargain.
Three pad compounds let you match the kit to how the car is actually used: Street is the quiet, low-dust road default, Sport adds bite and heat range for fast-road work with occasional track use, and Racing is the dedicated circuit compound for when the 8N is being driven hard. Pick discs drilled or slotted at the same price, and choose your caliper finish to suit the build. The included painted colours are Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black at no extra cost, with Custom Color in any Pantone available, or premium polished-forged and candy finishes for a more involved look.
About the Hollow Front Big Brake Kit
XYZ Racing’s calipers are hollow-bodied as standard, shedding weight from the corner without giving up clamping force, and the hollow-vane two-piece discs move heat away from the friction surfaces faster than a solid casting. That keeps the pad-to-disc interface stable under load, reduces the thermal soak that causes pedal fade and pad glazing, and shortens pedal travel under maximum deceleration. Floating disc construction lets the rotor expand evenly with temperature instead of coning, which preserves even pad contact lap after lap.
The three-compound pad range reflects the fact that a kit with this much thermal capacity gets used across genuinely different duty cycles, and pad selection is the single biggest determinant of feel once the disc is set. For owners running sustained circuit sessions, the optional Hollow Racing caliper upgrade runs without a dust cover, is rated to 1000C and carries a two-year warranty. Centre bell upgrades in two-tone anodized colours or titanium are selectable at checkout, alongside braided lines, so the installation can be specified as carefully as it is engineered.
Fitment for the Audi TT 2WD 1.8T (8N) (1998-2006)
This front brake kit covers the Audi TT 8N platform in front-wheel-drive 1.8T specification, for the model years 1998 to 2006. Compatibility requires the two-piece OE front caliper, not the single-piece unit found on some lower-spec 8N builds. Check your existing front calipers before ordering; the two-piece version is visually identifiable by its split construction and is typically found on higher-output and sport-trim variants within the 8N range.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
