XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota CAMRY XV20 (TYPE 1) 1997-2001

The XV20 Camry left the factory as a soft, long-travel saloon – comfort-sprung, nose-heavy, and built to soak up motorway miles rather than loose-surface stages. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover takes that inherent suspension travel and puts it under control, turning a comfort-biased Toyota into something that can attack a gravel stage without bottoming out or wallowing through its stroke.

This is the gravel-specific damper in the XYZ Racing range, not a fast-road or circuit kit pressed into rough-stage duty. It is built around an inverted-tube body with a long-stroke, long-spring layout, and the spring rates are signed off by XYZ Racing’s own rally team.

What this coilover does for your 1997-2001 Toyota Camry XV20 (Type 1)

On a 1997-2001 Toyota Camry XV20 (Type 1), the first thing you feel is the front end holding its line over crests and ruts that used to send the standard struts crashing through their travel. The long stroke keeps the tyres loaded on a broken, bouncy surface, so the front axle of this nose-heavy front-driver keeps finding grip instead of skating wide. The inverted-tube construction places the larger-diameter tube at the top, where it resists the side loads a gravel car throws at its struts when the rear steps out and the nose digs in. Long springs matched to that stroke let the kit absorb big single hits – a buried rock, the compression at the bottom of a dip – without spiking the chassis. The net effect is a Camry that stays composed under the repeated high-G cornering loads that loose-surface stages generate.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally coilover is engineered specifically for rally and rallycross, where the road surface is the most punishing in motorsport. XYZ Racing built it around an inverted-tube damper design so the unit can be set up across the full spread of loose conditions a stage presents – sandstone, packed snow, and silt each load a shock differently. The defining traits are stroke and spring length: both are deliberately long, so the damper can absorb the constant chassis vibration of a rough road, take the hit from high-speed bouncy sections, and still hold the car through the lateral G of a committed corner. Because the shock absorber is the single most important component on a gravel car, the whole kit is built to survive aggressive, sustained abuse rather than a handful of smooth laps. Every spring rate has been tested and validated by XYZ Racing’s rally team, so the baseline setting is a competition starting point rather than a guess.

Fitment for the Toyota Camry XV20 (Type 1) (1997-2001)

This kit is cut for the Toyota Camry XV20 (Type 1), chassis code TO12, covering the 1997 to 2001 model years. Confirm your car falls within that first-type XV20 window before ordering. The supplied data does not list trim or PCD splits for this fitment, so check your chassis code against TO12 to be certain.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
