XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Porsche CAYMAN (987) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2012

The 987 Cayman’s mid-engine layout puts the flat-six low and just ahead of the rear axle, giving the chassis a low polar moment of inertia that lets the tail step out quickly and hold an angle rather than fight its way there. XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec coilover is built around that trait: instead of resisting the Cayman’s natural rotation, it gives you the range to control it once the car is sideways.

This is a dedicated drift-oriented spec, not a fast-road or circuit-lap tune – the damping and ride height are set up to hold body control through sustained high-speed slip angles rather than minimise roll over a single quick lap. For a Porsche Cayman (987) built for competitive drifting, that’s the difference between a car that snaps and a car you can hold on the edge.

What this coilover kit does for your 2005-2012 Porsche Cayman (987)

Drop the ride height on a 987 and you change how quickly weight loads the outside rear tyre the moment you lift or clutch-kick into a slide – too soft and the body pitches and rolls right when the rear needs to bite and hold; too stiff and the car snaps rather than sliding progressively. The Drift Spec kit’s bump stroke is calibrated specifically to keep the body settled through that transition, so the Cayman moves into an angle instead of unsettling under you. Because the mid-engine layout already wants to rotate fast, having the chassis stabilised through the corner – not just at initiation – is what lets you hold a bigger, more consistent angle across a full run rather than correcting constantly. The result on a 2005-2012 Cayman (987) is a car that steps out predictably and stays where you put it, which is what separates a scored drift pass from a spin.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drift Spec line is built specifically around competition drifting rather than adapted from a circuit or fast-road platform. Its job is to keep the body settled while the car is turning hard at speed, so the driver can commit to an angle rather than manage the car as it arrives at one – that stability is what lets a Cayman driver place the car exactly where they want it mid-slide, instead of correcting for body movement on top of steering and throttle inputs. Ride height sits low, and the bump stroke is set so the suspension has somewhere to go as the car loads and unloads through a run rather than topping or bottoming out mid-transition. XYZ has tuned this spec around holding an angle cleanly rather than outright lap time, which is why it feels different on the road to a track-biased kit fitted to the same car.

Fitment for the Porsche Cayman (987) (2005-2012)

This spec fits the Porsche Cayman (987) across the full 2005-2012 production run. If your car left the factory with electronic damping (PASM), you need this cancellation-kit variant – it removes the factory PASM control so the Drift Spec’s manual damping runs without the OEM electronics fighting it or flagging a fault. Non-PASM 987s use the standard kit instead.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
