XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Nissan SKYLINE R33 GTST 1995-1998

The R33 GTST has always been the misunderstood generation – criticised at launch for the wheelbase stretch over the R32, yet eventually vindicated on drift circuits where that extra stability margin allows drivers to carry greater angle at higher speed. The ECR33’s rear multilink layout is capable of far more than Nissan’s factory geometry implies, but extracting it requires hardware that was designed with competitive drifting in mind from the outset, not adapted from a road or fast-road spec.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover addresses this directly. Built for the Nissan Skyline R33 GTST across the full 1995-1998 production span, it targets the specific demands of competitive drifting: vehicle body stabilisation through high-speed direction changes, geometry that supports maximum controllable angle, and ride height adjustment calibrated around bump stroke rather than aesthetics.

What this coilover does for your 1995-1998 Nissan SKYLINE R33 GTST

Dropping the R33 onto a Drift Spec coilover changes the character of the initiation. The lowered ride height, set up with proper attention to bump stroke, shifts the roll centre so that body roll becomes a controlled element rather than an obstacle – the car holds stable through sustained lateral loading instead of wallowing against its springs. That stability is the difference between committing to a repeatable angle run and fighting the chassis through every transition. The rear multilink geometry tightens as ride height drops, reducing the vagueness that affects standard-height R33s under hard lateral load, and the RB25DET’s torque goes through the tyres rather than being absorbed by an uncooperative suspension.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s dedicated competition drifting coilover, built around the body control requirements of high-speed angle work rather than the compliance priorities of a road or circuit suspension. The core engineering priority is body stabilisation through the sustained lateral forces of a drift run, allowing the driver to achieve and hold a proper drift angle without the chassis generating unpredictable responses. Ride height adjustment and bump stroke management are calibrated together in this design – lowering the car correctly, rather than simply lowering it, is the mechanism through which the Drift Spec puts drift control into an excellent operating state. The result works with the driver’s throttle and steering inputs rather than creating additional variables to manage mid-run.

Fitment for the Nissan SKYLINE R33 GTST (1995-1998)

Fitment covers the Nissan Skyline R33 GTST (chassis reference NI38) from 1995 through to 1998. This is the rear-wheel-drive GTST variant – not the GT-R AWD platform. If you are unsure of your variant, confirm your chassis plate before ordering.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
