XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Nissan MAXIMA A34 2003-2008

The A34 Maxima was not designed with gravel stages in mind. Its VQ35DE V6 drives through the front axle – the same axle that steers the car – and on loose surfaces that shared workload becomes the defining constraint. The suspension must absorb irregular compressions, resist chassis pitch under hard braking, and maintain enough tyre contact for the driven wheels to do anything useful.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Nissan Maxima A34 (2003-2008) is built for exactly those demands. Drawing on rally and rallycross competition, it replaces the standard damper with hardware configured around long-stroke travel and spring rates validated on gravel, snow, and silt stages.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2008 Nissan MAXIMA A34

On a front-wheel-drive platform competing on loose surfaces, the front axle is carrying every input at once. Extended stroke travel lets the suspension absorb large compressions without transmitting the full shock into the chassis – critical on the A34, where engine mass over the front axle means any abrupt suspension event costs you steering authority at precisely the moment you need it. The inverted tube construction keeps unsprung weight low at each corner, which on unpredictable terrain translates to wheels that track the surface rather than skip across it. Spring rates drawn from rally team testing mean the calibration is based on competitive stage experience, not extrapolated from road-car assumptions.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this kit specifically for rally and rallycross competition, and identify rallycross as the most aggressive surface discipline in motorsport – placing greater demands on the shock absorber than any other competitive format. The design centres on an inverted tube damper paired with long springs, a configuration that resists the bending loads typical of rough stages and offers greater resistance to dirt and debris ingress than conventional layouts. Stroke length is maximised to absorb chassis vibration and the high G-force loading that occurs during fast direction changes on loose ground. The package covers the full range of surfaces it will encounter in competition: sandstone, snow, and silt each impose different compression and rebound demands, and the spring rate specifications reflect testing across all three. Every setting in the kit was signed off by XYZ Racing’s rally team before reaching production.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
