XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz AMG GTR (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2017-2023

The AMG GT R’s factory electronic damping is built for smooth tarmac and the odd ‘ring lap, not a loose gravel stage where the surface moves under you corner to corner. Fit the cancellation kit and you strip that electronic layer out entirely, handing full control to a manual damper built for exactly the terrain the standard setup was never asked to handle.

This is XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover, developed for gravel-stage rally and rallycross work rather than track lapping. On a car as heavy and torque-rich as the GT R, that distinction matters: the damper has to absorb repeated high-speed compressions on sandstone, snow or silt without the chassis ballooning or bottoming out.

What this coilover does for your 2017-2023 Mercedes Benz AMG GTR

The inverted tube damper construction keeps unsprung mass under control while the long stroke and long spring combination soaks up chassis vibration that would otherwise transmit straight into the AMG GT R’s stiff aluminium structure. Because the shock is built to survive sustained high-speed impacts rather than short circuit-lap loads, it holds its damping character over an entire stage rather than fading after a handful of hard hits. The cancellation kit means none of that control is second-guessed by the factory electronics trying to reassert their own damping curve mid-corner. Spring rates are set to bear extreme G-force through direction changes, which on a car carrying AMG GT R power and weight means the rear end stays planted under throttle rather than stepping out on loose surfaces.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically for rally racing and rallycross, where road conditions are the most punishing of any motorsport discipline the brand covers. The inverted tube layout was chosen to cope with the way gravel, snow and silt each load the damper differently, rather than tuning for a single consistent tarmac surface. Stroke length and spring length are both extended beyond a tarmac-focused coilover so the damper can absorb chassis vibration and aggressive hits from high-speed bumps without running out of travel. That length also lets the unit deal with the sustained G-force loading that comes from fast direction changes on loose surfaces. Every spring rate on this application has been set and tested by an actual rally racing team rather than derived on a rig, which is the difference between a coilover that copes with gravel and one that was designed for it.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz AMG GTR (2017-2023)

Built for the AMG GT R (chassis code ME39-C) across the full 2017-2023 production run, including cars fitted with the cancellation kit for electronic damping. Confirm your car carries the electronic damping system before ordering this cancellation-kit variant, since it replaces that control layer rather than working alongside it.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
