XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz S CLASS W221 (NON ABC hydraulic or 4WD) 2006-2013

The W221 S-Class was engineered as a barge – two-tonne kerb weight, long wheelbase, and a soft, comfort-biased rear that turns body roll into a defining trait when you push it. Drift Spec coilovers reset that equation. This kit is for the rear-wheel-drive, non-ABC W221 owner who wants the car to actually rotate on demand, sit low without bottoming out on uneven UK B-roads, and behave predictably when the rear breaks traction.

Strip away the air struts (or the conventional steel setup) and you get a fully adjustable monotube platform built around drift use first, with enough range to live as a hard-edged road car.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2013 Mercedes Benz S CLASS W221

Spring rates and damper valving on the Drift Spec are built to keep a heavy chassis flat through long, committed angle rather than collapsing onto the bumpstops mid-transition. You get independent ride-height adjustment per corner, so the W221’s nose-heavy front (V8 or V12, take your pick) can be balanced against the rear without dropping the sump to the deck. 36-way damping means the front can be set firm enough to load the outside tyre quickly, while the rear stays planted enough to hold a slide instead of snapping. Pillowball top mounts on the front sharpen turn-in response on a chassis the factory deliberately isolated for ride quality. The W221’s stock suspension geometry was never asked to hold sustained lock – this kit gives you the camber range and the damper authority to do it.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec sits at the firmer end of the XYZ Racing range and is built specifically for circuit drift work and aggressive fast-road use. Construction is monotube with a 52mm piston, oversized shaft, and a sealed gas chamber to cope with the heat soak that comes from repeated initiation and counter-steer cycles. Spring rates are stiffer than the Super Sport and Circuit Master kits, calibrated to keep a heavy saloon platform composed under sustained lateral load. Height is adjustable independently of preload via the lower bracket, so you can corner-weight the car without losing damper stroke. The 36-step click adjuster on top of each damper covers compression and rebound together, giving a single, repeatable reference point when you’re swapping setups between sessions.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S CLASS W221 (2006-2013)

This kit fits the W221 chassis (ME35), 2006 through 2013, and is for cars on the conventional steel suspension only. If your S-Class has ABC active hydraulic suspension or AIRMATIC, or it is a 4MATIC 4WD variant, this is not the correct kit – those cars need a different platform-specific solution and the fitment will not adapt across.

Build yours below – pick your spring rates, top mounts and ride height in the configurator, and the kit ships as-specced.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
