XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Maserati Quattroporte M139 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2003-2012

The M139 Quattroporte was built around Skyhook adaptive damping, and when those electronic struts inevitably fail the repair bills run into the thousands – which is exactly why this Racing Spec kit exists. The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the Maserati Quattroporte M139 replaces the entire Skyhook system with a fully mechanical, manually adjustable platform, complete with the cancellation harness needed to keep the dash from throwing suspension faults.

This is the harder-edged end of the XYZ range, aimed at owners who want their saloon to drive like the Ferrari-engined GT it always wanted to be rather than the soft luxury barge Modena originally tuned it as. Spring rates and damper valving sit firmly on the circuit side of the road/track compromise.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2012 Maserati Quattroporte M139

The first thing you feel is the body control. The M139 is a long, heavy car with the F136 V8 sitting well back in the bay, and the standard Skyhook setup masks weight transfer rather than controlling it – the Racing Spec kit ties the chassis down so the nose stops diving on the Brembos and the rear stops squatting when you wake the V8 up. Thirty-position damping adjustment means you can wind the bump and rebound stiffer for trackdays and back off a few clicks for the M6 home. Ride height is independently adjustable from the lower mount, so you keep full damper stroke even when you drop the car to fill the arches properly. Steering response sharpens noticeably once the front geometry stops moving around under load, and turn-in finally matches the urgency of the engine.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec sits at the firmer end of the XYZ catalogue, with spring rates and damper tuning chosen for circuit work first and street manners second. Construction is monotube with a high-pressure gas charge, which keeps damper oil from foaming during sustained heat cycles – the failure mode that turns a budget coilover to mush by lap four. Pillowball top mounts replace the rubber OE bushings on the front struts for sharper feedback and zero bushing deflection under hard cornering. The cancellation kit is the part that matters specifically to the M139: a wiring harness that simulates the resistance of the original Skyhook actuators so the car’s electronic suspension module doesn’t trigger a warning light or limp mode. Damping adjustment is single-knob, combining bump and rebound across thirty clicks, with the adjuster sited at the top of the strut for accessible tuning without removing wheels.

Fitment for the Maserati Quattroporte (2003-2012)

This kit fits the M139-generation Quattroporte built between 2003 and 2012, covering both the original DuoSelect and later automatic-equipped Sport GT and Executive GT cars. The included cancellation harness is essential – it is what makes a mechanical coilover viable on a chassis originally fitted with Skyhook electronic dampers.
