XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Infiniti QX70 (S51) 4WD 2013-2017

The QX70 is an oddity on a stage entry list – a 1,955kg luxury crossover with a 3.7-litre VQ37VHR up front and a torque-split 4WD system underneath. That mass, sitting high on a Nissan FM platform shared with the 370Z, is the engineering problem the XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Infiniti QX70 (S51) 4WD is built to solve.

Sealed-stage tarmac work punishes a chassis like this. The factory air-influenced ride and soft secondary damping wash out across kerbs, crests and broken hairpins, and the front end loads up long after the driver wants it to settle. This kit is the Tarmac Rally specification from XYZ’s rally programme, carried directly across to the S51 platform without the watering-down you get from a road-biased coilover catalogued for an SUV.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2017 Infiniti QX70

You get a QX70 that stops behaving like a luxury crossover the moment the road turns. Body control sharpens immediately – the nose stays planted under trail braking instead of wallowing onto the outside front, and the rear stops taking a heartbeat to follow the steering. Spring and damper settings carried over from XYZ’s tarmac rally programme are tuned to absorb a big single hit – a crested kerb, a patched join in the tarmac – without giving up the high-frequency control that keeps all four tyres loaded between bumps. Traction at corner exit, where the QX70’s 4WD system wants to put power down, improves because the contact patch is no longer being lifted clear of the surface every time the road moves under the car. Ride height comes down without the geometry compromise of a lowering spring on factory dampers.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally specification is XYZ’s answer to sealed-surface rallying, where the damper has to absorb the jolt of a kerb strike or a broken expansion joint and then recover instantly for the next input. The valving prioritises shock absorption across uneven pavement and active suppression of body movement, so the tyre is held in contact with the surface for a higher percentage of the lap. These are not road dampers re-labelled – the settings come from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme and are carried over unchanged. Construction follows XYZ’s standard rally-spec hardware with the height and damping adjustability needed to set the car up stage by stage. For a heavy 4WD platform like the S51, that valving translates into a chassis that can take a hit without unloading and a driver who can commit to the next braking zone.

Fitment for the Infiniti QX70 (2013-2017)

Built specifically for the S51-chassis QX70 in its 4WD configuration across the 2013 to 2017 model years. The kit covers the full production run of the QX70 nameplate in the UK before the model was withdrawn, including post-facelift cars. Confirm your chassis code in the V5 before ordering if you have a grey-import or pre-facelift FX-badged car.
