XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Hyundai ELANTRA SPORT 2017-2026

The Elantra Sport (HY31) was Hyundai’s first credible swing at a B-segment sports saloon – a 1.6 turbo, multi-link rear and a stiffer shell than the standard Elantra it was based on. The factory damping is honest but conservative, and the chassis runs out of body control before the 201bhp powertrain runs out of breath. The Top Sport coilover is the kit that closes that gap.

Damping is lifted roughly 30-50% over a street-tuned coilover, and spring rates step up by around 2kg/mm against typical road settings. On the HY31 that translates to a flatter front end into a long sweeper, less nose-dive under braking from triple digits, and a rear axle that actually settles instead of skating over mid-corner ripples.

The stiffer platform also feeds the front tyres harder, which the Elantra Sport’s multi-link rear can finally use – the factory car tends to wash wide because the front simply isn’t loaded enough. Ride height is fully adjustable so you can drop the visual gap over the 18s without the typical drive-on-the-bumpstops trade-off, and the higher damping reserve means broken B-road tarmac stops upsetting the chassis the way it does on lowering springs.

Top Sport is XYZ Racing’s fast-road-with-track-capability tier, sat above their pure street-comfort kits but below the dedicated Circuit Master and Racing Spec sets. The damping curves and spring rates are lifted around 30-50% over street tune to absorb the bigger inputs that come with harder driving – large bumps, kerb strikes, heavy braking zones – without the suspension running out of travel.

The brief is shock-body suppression and tyre traction in one package. By holding the contact patch down through compression and rebound events that would unload a softer damper, the platform stays stable through direction changes and the tyre keeps doing useful work. Every setting in the Top Sport range is drawn from XYZ Racing’s own circuit testing, then dialled back to something a daily-driven car can live with.
