XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Hyundai ACCENT 2000-2005

Gravel stages punish a small front-driver harder than almost any other discipline – compressions that bottom street dampers in one hit, cambers that load the outside corner past anything tarmac asks, and a surface that changes mid-corner from packed dirt to loose stone. The Hyundai Accent’s light kerb weight and short wheelbase mean the chassis reacts fast to all of it, and a road-spec strut simply runs out of stroke before the stage does. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the 2000-2005 Accent is built for that exact environment.

This is the gravel-specific damper in the XYZ Racing range, not a tarmac coilover with softer springs. The inverted-tube architecture, long stroke and long-travel springs are what separate it from a circuit setup and what make it survive a competitive Accent rally programme.

What this coilover does for your 2000-2005 Hyundai Accent

The long stroke is the headline change you will feel on the first compression. Where a fast-road damper packs down over a yump and unloads the inside rear, the Gravel Rally unit keeps the tyre planted through the second and third hit, so the Accent’s narrow track stops skating sideways across loose surfaces. Inverted-tube construction puts the larger-diameter shaft at the bottom of the strut, which raises the side-load capacity exactly where a front-drive Accent loads it under turn-in on a rutted corner. The long spring lets the chassis use that travel without coil bind, so the car squats and rotates rather than skipping. On a small, lively platform like the Accent that translates to a car you can actually drive into the stop on a loose surface, instead of one that demands you back off to settle it.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s purpose-developed damper for rally and rallycross use, which the brand identifies as the most aggressive road condition in motorsport. The inverted-tube design is the central engineering decision: it gives the strut the bending stiffness needed to absorb impacts on sandstone, snow and silt without binding, and it is paired with both a long stroke and a long spring so the chassis can take a high-speed bouncy section flat without running out of damper. The damping circuit is set up to bear extreme G-force during cornering on changing surfaces, and the spring rates are not picked off a catalogue chart – every rate in the range is tested by an XYZ rally team in competition. The result is a coilover engineered specifically for the high-energy, low-grip world of stage rally, not a circuit kit with longer springs bolted in.

Fitment for the Hyundai Accent (2000-2005)

This kit is built for the Hyundai Accent on the HY01 chassis, covering the model years 2000 to 2005. Front struts and rear units are matched to the Accent’s MacPherson front, twist-beam rear layout and to the kerb weight and front-bias of the 1.3 and 1.5 petrol cars of that generation.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
