XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Honda CRV I 1995-2001

The first-generation Honda CRV is a tall, softly-sprung 90s crossover that was never designed to corner – which is exactly why building one into a circuit weapon has become its own small subculture. The Racing Spec coilover gives the HN27 chassis the one thing it was born without: a damper platform stiff enough to control that high centre of gravity under real load, with the breadth of adjustment a track-prepped car actually needs.

This is the most uncompromising kit in the XYZ range, developed through direct involvement in WTCC and pitched at serious track and time-attack use. For a CRV I being prepped for circuit work, that pedigree matters more than it would on a focused chassis – you are asking a 1995-2001 SUV to do something its factory engineers did not.

What this coilover does for your 1995-2001 Honda CRV

On a CRV I, body roll is the enemy of every other input. Racing Spec damping lets you shut down the lateral pitch that hides the chassis’s actual grip, so the front tyres start working in trail-braking rather than washing wide at turn-in. Ride height comes down enough to drop the roll centre and put the geometry back into a useful window. Under power-on out of slower corners, the rear stops squatting through its stroke, which keeps the open differential from spinning up the inside wheel before the apex. The result is a CRV that behaves like a car you can hustle, not a tall vehicle you nurse around the lap.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec sits at the top of the XYZ ladder and is built specifically for track race rather than fast road. The damper settings have been developed through direct participation in racing events including WTCC, and the spec sheet reflects that – this is not a fast-road coilover with stiffer springs bolted on. For owners running aggressive upgrades along the lines of factory racing vehicles or A-class race cars, XYZ Racing will build custom shock absorbers to suit; you supply the detail on what is bolted to the car and which circuit you intend to run, and the damper is tuned around that brief. For a chassis as unusual as the HN27 in a track context, that custom route is the route worth taking.

Fitment for the Honda CRV (1995-2001)

This kit is built for the Honda CRV I, chassis code HN27, covering the 1995 to 2001 production span of the first-generation car. Confirm your chassis code against the V5 before configuring; the HN27 designation covers the standard first-gen CRV across that window.
