XYZ Racing Super Sport Coilovers — Chevrolet COBALT 2005-2010

The Cobalt’s GM Delta platform was sold as economy transport, but in SS trim – especially the supercharged and later turbocharged LNF cars – it became a genuine front-drive weapon that the factory dampers were never specified to handle. Stock struts run out of rebound control halfway through a fast B-road, and the rear twist-beam tramps under power on anything but glass. The XYZ Racing Super Sport coilover for the Chevrolet Cobalt addresses both ends with proper height adjustment and 36 clicks of single-knob damping.

This is the fast-road and weekend-track spec in the XYZ catalogue, and it suits the Cobalt’s character well. The 2005-2010 chassis responds strongly to lowering and a stiffer corner rate, but it still has to live on UK B-road surfacing the rest of the week – which is exactly the brief Super Sport is built to.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2010 Chevrolet Cobalt

Drop the ride height into a sensible window and the Cobalt’s polar moment shrinks noticeably – turn-in sharpens, and the front axle stops washing wide on mid-corner throttle. The 36-way damping range is wide enough to run a soft, compliant setup for commuting and then firm everything up four or five clicks for a track day without needing tools or a corner-weight session. Body control over compressions improves immediately, the rear twist-beam settles under power, and braking stability into a hairpin is transformed because the nose no longer dives onto its bumpstops. The same kit will give you a planted stance at static height without the crash-and-bang ride that cheap lowering springs deliver on this platform.

About the Super Sport coilover

Super Sport is XYZ Racing’s dual-purpose damper – engineered specifically to kill the harshness that bumps and rough surfaces transmit through a lowered car, while still giving you the body control needed for circuit work. Ride height is fully adjustable at the spring perch, and the single-knob 36-way adjuster on each damper changes compression and rebound together, so setup stays simple even if you have never run coilovers before. The damper internals are tuned to cover a wide operating window – the same kit handles a daily commute on poor surfaces one day and a weekend track session the next, which is the point of the Super Sport line versus the stiffer Circuit-spec kits higher up the range. Construction is the same monotube architecture used across the XYZ range, and the spring rates are matched to the Cobalt’s weight distribution rather than carried over from a generic application.

Fitment for the Chevrolet Cobalt (2005-2010)

This kit is built for the Chevrolet Cobalt on the CH01 chassis, covering the full 2005 to 2010 production run in both coupe and sedan body styles. Front and rear damper units are supplied as a complete set with springs and the necessary hardware for a direct bolt-in fit.
