XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BYD F6 2003-2007

Gravel stages punish a saloon’s suspension in ways tarmac never will – landing compressions, mid-corner ruts, sustained high-frequency chatter from loose surfaces – and the Byd F6 was built as a comfortable family three-box, not as a rally weapon. That gap between what the F6 platform offers from the factory and what a gravel special stage demands is exactly what this kit closes.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Byd F6 (BY03, 2003-2007) is the inverted-tube damper from the XYZ line, built specifically for loose-surface competition rather than circuit work or fast road. If you are putting an F6 onto gravel – whether that is a regional rallycross series, a privateer stage car build, or a club-level loose-surface event – this is the suspension that matches the use case.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2007 Byd F6

On gravel, the damper is doing more work than any other component on the car. This kit puts the strut tube upside-down, which moves the larger-diameter section into the bending load path and makes the assembly stiffer against the side loads that flex a conventional damper body when you clip a rut at speed. The long stroke gives the wheel somewhere to go when the surface drops away, so the F6 stays planted through compressions instead of skipping and losing drive. Long springs paired to that stroke keep the rate progressive through the full range of travel, so you can attack a high-speed bumpy section without the chassis bottoming or losing composure when you load it into a turn. Spring rates have been tested by XYZ’s own rally racing team, which means the baseline setting is a real-world starting point rather than a theoretical number on a datasheet.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

Rally cross is, by XYZ’s own admission, the most aggressive discipline in motorsport for a shock absorber – sandstone, snow, silt, and broken surfaces all in the same stage. To meet that brief XYZ developed an inverted-tube damper, with the larger working tube reversed so the unit takes side loads better and resists the flex that ends a conventional coilover’s working life on a rally car. The long stroke is there to absorb chassis vibration on washboard sections, to soak up the aggressive vertical inputs from high-speed bouncy roads, and to bear the extreme G-force generated when the car is loaded into a high-grip turn-in on loose surface. Springs are matched in length to that stroke, with rates derived from rally racing team testing rather than from a generic catalogue table. This is a discipline-specific damper – it is not a road coilover with a softer setting, it is a tool built for one job.

Fitment for the Byd F6 (2003-2007)

This kit is engineered to the F6 BY03 platform across the full 2003-2007 production span. Confirm your chassis code matches BY03 and that your build year falls inside the range before ordering – the configurator below will walk through any remaining spec choices.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
