XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — BMW X6 E71 4WD (NON AIR STRUT) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2014

The E71 X6 is a 2.2-tonne crossover coupe built on the E70 X5 platform, and on a sealed-stage tarmac rally it behaves exactly like what it is: a tall, heavy, all-wheel-drive GT being asked to do something it was never engineered for. The factory air suspension and electronic damping that smooth out a motorway run become the limiting factor the moment surfaces get broken and the pace climbs. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the BMW X6 E71 replaces both, with a cancellation kit included to take the EDC module out of the picture entirely.

This is the sealed-stage tarmac specification – built around absorbing big single-hit impacts without unsettling the chassis, then recovering quickly enough to keep the tyre loaded into the next corner. For a 4WD platform this heavy, that recovery behaviour is the whole game.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2014 Bmw X6 E71 4WD (NON AIR STRUT) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping)

Swapping in a fixed-rate Tarmac Rally damper transforms how the E71 carries its mass. The factory air struts are tuned for ride isolation, which on a broken tarmac stage translates to wallow, delayed weight transfer and a front axle that washes wide once the surface stops being smooth. The XYZ damping is built to suppress that body movement and keep the contact patch planted across uneven pavement – the same brief XYZ developed against on real tarmac rally events. Front and rear ride height is fully adjustable, so the X6’s tall stance can be brought down to a usable centre of gravity without bottoming the chassis on compression. The included EDC cancellation kit removes the dashboard fault that would otherwise appear when the electronic dampers are unplugged, so the conversion is clean and the car drives as it should.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally damper carries over the settings XYZ has developed through its own competition programme on sealed stages. The brief is specific: absorb the jolt when the car hits a big bump, suppress the rebound through the body, and increase tyre traction on the surface that follows. It is not a circuit damper repackaged with softer springs – the valving is set for single hits and broken pavement rather than the repeatable kerb strikes of a track. Construction follows the same monotube principles as the rest of the XYZ range, and the spring rates are matched to the platform rather than carried over from a lighter car. For the E71, that matters: a 2.2-tonne 4WD needs rates and damping force that a 3 Series simply does not. The (NON AIR STRUT) designation in the part code is important – this is the cancellation-kit variant for cars originally equipped with electronic damping, and the kit components are included.

Fitment for the Bmw X6 (2008-2014)

This kit fits the E71-generation X6 4WD with the original air strut / electronic damping configuration, chassis code BM69-2-C, model years 2008 to 2014. The cancellation kit for the electronic damping module is part of this specification – confirm before ordering that your car was factory-fitted with EDC, as the non-EDC E71 takes a different part number.
