XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — BMW I8 4WD (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2014-2020

The i8’s factory adaptive dampers are the first obstacle to any serious suspension change, and this XYZ Racing Drift Spec kit ships with the cancellation hardware that keeps BMW’s electronic damping module quiet once the original struts come out. That clears the dashboard faults and limp-mode behaviour owners run into when they try to bolt conventional coilovers onto a 2014-2020 i8.

With its carbon Life module sitting on an aluminium drive module, the i8 carries its mass low and split front-to-rear, and the Drift Spec valving is built to plant that body through fast direction changes rather than chase ride comfort. This is the competition-focused end of the XYZ Racing range, set up for holding angle rather than soaking up bumps.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 BMW i8

Dropping the ride height on adjustable lower mounts lets you reduce the i8’s tall-feeling roll centre and set meaningful camber, so the front axle bites earlier on turn-in. The firmer Drift Spec rates cut body roll through the quick transitions a drift line demands, which keeps weight transfer predictable when you provoke and then catch a slide. Because the kit cancels the electronic damping, you get fixed, known damper behaviour instead of a system constantly second-guessing your inputs. Lower and stiffer also sharpens the stance, giving the i8 the planted look its standard ride height never quite delivers, while the bump stroke is set so the car still works over kerbs and surface changes mid-corner rather than skipping.

About the Drift Spec coilover

The Drift Spec is XYZ Racing’s competition-led coilover, engineered specifically for drift use rather than reworked from a fast-road kit. The design centres on keeping the body stable through high-speed cornering so the driver can set and hold a clean angle, and the damping is tuned to sharpen drift control once the car is lowered onto its proper bump stroke. Spring rates and valving are chosen to resist the load spikes of a committed entry and to keep the contact patch consistent as the car is pitched and held sideways. Height runs through threaded lower mounts, so corner balance and rake can be matched to the surface and your style. It is a focused tool: the priority is angle, body control and repeatable response, not isolation from the road.

Fitment for the BMW i8 (2014-2020)

This kit is built for the BMW i8 (chassis code BM102-C) across the 2014 to 2020 production run, covering the 4WD layout with its front electric drive and rear-mounted turbo triple. The included cancellation kit for the electronic damping is what makes this fitment work cleanly, letting the coilover replace the factory adaptive struts without throwing faults. Confirm your build matches the listed years before ordering.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
