On heavy bumps, oil moves through those small passages quickly enough to produce a faint audible note – a known characteristic of the design and not a fault. It is the trade-off for the resolution of adjustment the damper offers, and on smooth UK circuit surfaces (Silverstone GP, Snetterton 300, Donington National) it simply does not come up.
